Interdisciplinary teams for each grade level create small learning communities within Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Students receive individual attention from team members through an advisor/advisee program which meets daily. The strong core curriculum is supplemented by accelerated programs at each grade level as well as allied arts (family and consumer sciences, technology, and keyboarding), fine arts (art, music, band, choir, and drama/speech), and foreign language (French, German, and Spanish). Thomas Jefferson Middle School also serves students who are learning disabled, mildly or moderately mentally handicapped, and orthopedically impaired. Supporting academics, the student service team includes guidance counselors, a nurse, a media specialist, and a gifted, talented coordinator.
